Warm Welcome for Syrian Refugees

To help welcome Syrian refugees arriving in Calgary and Southern Alberta, we are collecting donations of hand-crafted winter accessories to be given to individuals and families as they arrive in the city. We are partnering with the Margaret Chisholm Resettlement Centre, part of Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, which runs an airport welcome program, to distribute the collected items.

Items we are hoping to collect are:

All Sizes / Genders of:
winter hats / toques / ear warmers
mittens / gloves
scarves / cowls

Please make your donations to meet the following criteria:
Clean, unworn
Easy care (machine wash & dry)
Cheerful colours – no solid black, skulls, or violent images
Attach any matching sets together
Label items with fibre content if possible

We would also love it if you would attach a small label of welcome to the recipient – nothing fancy, just something to, well, make them feel welcomed!

Finished items can be dropped off at The Loop, 1978 Kensington Rd NW, Calgary AB, from now until mid-January. If you have any questions, please contact Candice (rav ID Candylibabeth, email candicelizzyking@hotmail.com) or Franki (email theloopclasses@gmail.com).

Thank you in advance for all your hard work! We’re certain our new neighbours will appreciate the effort!
